The only way to marginalize Twitter is to direct our attention and publish our content to completely different types of platforms, like blogs.
What followed in the replies was quite an interesting discussion around what a Twitter successor could and should be. I especially liked some of the ideas around open web solutions. However, while we’re considering successors, we should reevaluate predecessors that still fit our criteria.

My solution will be to add a section on my website for shorter posts, and adjust expectations for myself and readers about what those posts are.
