Southpaw grammar

People say to me, “for a writer, you make a lot of typos” which reveals a fundamental misunderstanding we have about good writing. Good writing is good thinking, not good grammar. Not knocking great grammar. Only saying good grammar is good editing, not good writing.

It’s true. Writing is just thinking plus typing. That alone doesn’t make it readable.

You need both good thinking and a solid grasp on other language rules like grammar, spelling, and punctuation if you want to be taken seriously. In the absence of an editor, you’d better have damn good editing yourself.
